Vital Organs Are Vital
Have The Guts To At Least Try!
Nature's Way is Often the Best Way
Everything that you and your pet consumes should be as natural and healthy as possible. This simple rule works wonders when it comes to keeping you, your pet and your family healthy and happy. It means avoiding or minimizing your exposure to artificial colors, tastes and smells - and knowing the risks if exposure is unavoidable. In general, if you do your best to provide an environment that is the most natural for your pet - and your common need for a calm, natural and clean environment - you will be simply amazed at the results. Most people never turn back.
Vital Organs Are Good For Your Pet
No matter what diet you have your pet on (canned, kibble, home cooked or even raw) they will probably benefit from the moderate addition of organ meat. Organ meats are very nutritious. And, believe it or not, your pets will probably love the taste even if you don't like the smell. Cats and dogs process smell much differently than we do, and they don't have thousands of years of preparing and consuming cooked food to distort what is good for them or not. We only need to look at the global obesity epidemic to understand what taking food to artificial extremes food can do.
When It Comes to Adding Organs, Moderation Is Key
When adding organ meat to the diet, be moderate at first. You might want to start with a topper. This adds a small amount of organ meat in powdered form to the diet, allowing the digestive system to become accustomed to such a rich foodstuff. Organs are much, much richer than the protein source that is typically preferred by people (heavily fat marbled muscle).
Why Not Dip Your Toes With a Topper?
Once your pet has become accustomed to the Toppers, you might want to include organ-based treats into the diet, but don't overdo it! The move from Toppers to Treats adds something like 100X more organ input to the diet and Treats should never take the place of food. Be gentle.
Moving On, Moving Up...to Raw!
Eventually you will have your pet in the position where they will be able to enjoy (and process) raw organ meat. Our advice is you start with chicken hearts! They are relatively cheap. They are very small, making portion management very easy. They are incredibly flavorful. They can be frozen. We use them all the time and we think they're great.
